Anime Haters Rant
I'll try not to be too offensive here, okay? First off, I am all up for opinions. I understand that you don't like anime, and that's fine with me. Most of my friends aren't really into anime that much. I have nothing against the fact that you hate anime. I have a problem with the fact that you bash all anime, all anime fans, and take extreme measures to get rid of anime or spread your hate all over the place. Now I know this is some of the anime haters, not all. But this rant is geared towards those kinds of haters.
I think the biggest issue I have with anime haters is that half of them don't say why anime sucks or why it deserves to die. All they say is "Anime sucks!" or "Anime is (insert senseless profanity here)!" Then when some anime fans fight back, some of them don't back up their statements. But I am not one of those. I am here to say why I think most of the reasons anime haters say anime sucks is bull and why most of the opinions are bias.
One of the main things that I don't understand is why half of the anime haters that make a huge deal about it are in their 20's. Shouldn't you be doing something other than ranting about how anime sucks? That just totally confuses me.
1. Americans Did it First
This theory meaning that every Japanese anime is a copy of American cartoons, says that any animation done by the Japanese was already done by the Americans. Some of this is true. Such as the anime "Kimba the White Lion" which is like The Lion King. Anime like that is like a Japanese version of an American cartoon. Most of the inspiration for anime, especially the older ones like Astro Boy, was from American cartoons. But even if Americans did it first, that is irrelevant and doesn't effect how good the Japanese anime is. Many other countries other than Japan has their versions of popular American cartoons. Just because the "Americans did it first" doesn't mean that the Japanese version can't be better than the original.
2. They Draw Less Pictures
And...? If the Japanese draw five pictures and the Americans draw 100, if the five pictures done by the Japanese are better than it's a mere case of quality is better than quantity. I never noticed it, but maybe it's because I was just enjoying the anime instead of trying to compare American versus Japanese animation.
3. Key Frames
I still have no clue what a key frame is exactly and I've tried to watch for them when watching anime, but maybe it's because I don't notice it or I just don't know what it's supposed to look like, I haven't seen them. According to a person "A key frame is sliding one image across another or moving back and forth" or something like that. I can't say much on this since I don't exactly know what a key frame is. To me it sounds like a transition. Is it a transition? It might be...I don't know. As this same person said that "The Americans do it to establish a location. The Japanese do it to cut f****** corners." How do know that? Have you ever been in the production of a Japanese anime, or an American one at that to know that they are trying to "cut corners"?
4. The Mouths Just Flap
One thing you have to remember is that the anime is made in the Japanese language. Thus, Japanese is not English. The Japanese language has many words that are made up of vowels. Such as the word "arigatou" (meaning thank you in English) the word in the English language is properly translated as "arigato" since the "u" isn't really needed with English characters. If you look at this word, you'll see that just about every syllable ends with a vowel. When you say a vowel your mouth is open. When you say words with vowels at the end, your mouth is open. And no, the animation of the mouths are still not exact, but American cartoons are not exact either. And I'll admit, it is strange when anime is translated and the mouth just flap but the original language fits better for the anime. And in other languages, I'm sure that the mouth flaps are way off.
5. Still Images
I'm sorry if they don't move enough for those of you who need everything to be moving at all times. They move enough for me. But some people such as "person" up above say the cartoons like Spongebob, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, and Ed, Edd, and Eddy are animated better. They are animated more, but not better. And once again, "person" is in their 20's and still thinks that Spongebob and Foster's is a fantastic show. I remember watching Ed, Edd, and Eddy when I was little, like five years old and I still wasn't a huge fan of American cartoons in the first place even before I was a fan of Japanese cartoons. Though, is way off the subject of key frames...
This video below is where I got these points. He really only talks about why American is better for the first five minutes. The rest is just talking.
Some of it is. But not all of it. And the only way you'd really find anime porn (hentai) is if you find online or in a "special" kind of store. Most of the mainstream anime is not porn.
7. The "Americans are already hooked on their high-tech gadgets, now they want us to be hooked on their entertainment as well!" Thing
Well, first off, if America would make anything high-tech this wouldn't be an issue now would it? If you want people to "buy American" maybe you should make something worth buying! But the huge thing is money. It's cheaper to get things from other countries like China and the Phillipines. Instead of making everything in the U.S.
Last two points are from this rant: http://toobis.com/rant-anime.html
